Green Manifesto

DSC_0045.jpg‘People’s Coalition for Green Tamil Nadu’ launches ‘Green Manifesto’‘People’s Coalition for Green Tamil Nadu’ has been formed during the Round Table Meet on 11 March 2011 at Chennai, to promote a ‘Green Agenda’ in the electoral process of Tamil Nadu.

This independent, non-partisan coalition consists of a wide-ranging group of individuals, Civil Society Organisations, Community Based Organisations, Think Tanks, Workers’ Unions and others who came together to identify the issues in environmental governance and sustainable development.This initiative of mooting Green agenda in election manifesto was jointly taken up Public Affairs Centre, Bangalore, Earth Smiles, Chennai and People’s Action for Development, Vembar. Now there are many organisations and networks that are part of this endeavour.

The coalition is launching a ‘Green Manifesto’ urging ALL political parties to take up ‘green agenda’ in their respective election manifestos. The Green Manifesto is aimed at productively engaging the political establishment, urging them to step up to the people’s needs and pave the way for a greener future.
